Dutch Dance Diva Eva Simons Returns with Hot New Single

Dutch recording artist Eva Simons needs to become a household name. After releasing popular tunes like her 2009 hit "Silly Boy," and the international smash collaboration with DJ Afrojack, "Take Over Control," 27 year Eva Simons is BACK on the dancefloor with a bangin' new track called "I Don't Like You." AMAZING. Simons premiered the new single March 20th and released it internationally on March 26th through Interscope Records. The song was produced by German producer/DJ Zedd, who's known for 'Zedd style' which draws from the Progressive house, Complextro and Dubstep genres of dance music. Zedd has worked with everyone from The Black Eyed Peas, and Lady Gaga to Fatboy Slim, Skrillex and Armand Van Helden.

Eva Simons first gained notoriety in 2004 when she competed in and won the Dutch version of Popstars, a TV talent show and precursor to the Idol series. On the show, Simons was a member of short lived girl band, Raffish, which disbanded in 2006. Simons surfaced again in a big way in 2009 when her song "Silly Boy" leaked online, featuring hot as hell remixes by Dave Audé, DJ Escape & Tony Coluccio and Richard Vission. "Silly Boy" was eventually released as Simons' debut single at the end of July 2009, after amassing over 10 million listens on YouTube.

Produced by Tearce "Kizzo" Keaz, "Silly Boy" became Simons' first single after signing EMI Music, taken from her as-yet unreleased debut album (tentatively titled) Eva-Lution. While the single was a modest hit in The Netherlands, peaking at #13, it flopped pretty much everywhere else. "Silly Boy" missed the Billboard charts altogether and peaked at #149 on the UK Singles Chart. Not a promising start for Simons, who by this point had already proven her talents. Now it was time for her to prove her commercialism. Following the release of "Silly Boy," Simons was featured in a number of potentially high profile collaborations, including one with Chris Brown on his Graffiti album, and one with former Pussycat Doll (and burgeoning dance superstar) Jessica Sutta. Unfortunately neither song was released as a single and Simons left EMI for Interscope.

Without doubt, Simons biggest hit to date was her 2010 collaboration with Dutch producer/DJ Afrojack, called "Take Over Control." The song, which was written by Afrojack, Eva & Ingrid Simons and Mike Hamilton, went on to become a worldwide chart smash, backed by a bevvy of remixes from the likes of Adam F, Ian Carey, Drumsound & Bassline, Spencer & Hill, Apster, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, and a multitude of bootlegs and unofficial mixes. "Take Over Control" was #1 on Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay chart for six weeks, #23 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart and peaked at #41 on Billboard's Hot 100. In the UK the song was also a hit, peaking at #3 on the UK Dance chart and #24 on the UK Singles chart. While the song served as a single for Afrojack and not Simons, it's success clearly drummed up some interest in the Dutch singer/songwriter. Hopefully that interest doesn't wane.
