Hot Video Alert: Keane - Disconnected

Keane Disconnected

I have a treat for all you Keane fans out there - the brand new video for the band's new single "Disconnected."  As I reported this past weekend, "Disconnected" will be released April 20th in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.  The video, filmed at a haunted house in Barcelona, was directed by Spanish director Juan Antonia Bayona and writer Sergio G. Sanchez, who first worked together on internationally acclaimed 2007 horror film, The Orphanage.  The duo's next picture, due out later this year, is called The Impossible.  The new film, starring Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor, takes place in Thailand at the time of the tsunami that devastated the country back in 2004. 

Thematically-speaking, this video is clearly inspired by horror movies from the 70s and 80s - think Evil Dead meets The Shining (yes, both 80s movies I know) or something to that effect.  The dark and ominous setting of this video is somewhat offset by the partly-sunny, slightly cheery tone of the song. I think it works.  "Disconnected" was written by Keane and produced by Dan Grech-Marguerat.  Check out the video and download Keane on iTunes BELOW.

Keane's new album, Strangeland is due in the UK on May 7th (Island Records) and on May 8th in the US (Cherrytree/Interscope Records).  Enter the 'Explore Strangeland' game on Keane's Facebook page. The first 20,000 fans to complete the game will receive a free track.
