[Hot Video Alert] Nelly Furtado - Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)


Nelly Furtado Big Hoops Bigger The Better

In the video for her latest single, "Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)," Canadian singer/songwriter Nelly Furtado works a pair of giant stilts like no other.  Shot April 5th in Los Angeles, "Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)" was directed by Little X (AKA Director X), the Canadian responsible for the creation of hot videos by Usher, Kanye West, The Wanted, Justin Bieber, and of course Nelly Furtado's 2006 hit single "Promiscuous." 

The video premiered on Much Music May 3rd, on VEVO May 7th and features Nelly Furtado shakin' her thang alongside world champion Native American hoop dancers (get the connection..."Big Hoops," hoop dancers...OK...) and towering over LA '50 Foot Woman' style (minus the barely there cave woman rags).  The video starts out with a 12-foot tall GLAMMED up Nelly Furtado, with her hair tightly & elegantly pulled back, big silver medallion-like earrings, flawless makeup and a black and pink sleeveless pant/tracksuit of some kind.  Girl struts her stuff down the street oozing plenty o'swag and leaving a trail of onlookers, mouths-gaping, behind her.

COSTUME CHANGE! Interspersed with the sexy stilt walk scenery, we see a pair of colorful male Native American hoop dancers flanking Furtado as she dances, giving the camera sexy face.  We also see shots of a bespectacled, hipster-fied Furtado standing in front of a deep red and black back drop.  There's also shots of a female Native American dancer, slo-mo swingin' around a rainbow fringed cape of some kind on a rooftop with a feather in her hair. Oh, and then, inexplicably, Nelly Furtado turns into the 50-foot woman. WHAT THE *%*&?! Visual stimulation overload!

Nelly Furtado The Spirit Indestructible

The Darkchild-produced "Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)" was released in the U.S. on April 17th (iTunes US) and is due out in the UK June 3rd (iTunes UK).  Dance remixes have been done by UK house producers Wideboys, positioning Furtado to land her 6th #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart. "Big Hoops" is the first single taken from Furtado's forthcoming fifth studio album, The Spirit Indestructible, which will be out June 19th on Interscope Records.  Furtado unveiled the album art earlier this month, Tweeting "It's light in color so that it's black-sharpie-ready for when I sign CDs for the beautiful fans." Aww. How sweet.  

Be sure and catch Nelly performing the song live on the Billboard Music Awards, May 20th on ABC. Furtado is scheduled to appear along with Usher, Kelly Clarkson, Linkin Park and Justin Bieber.
