[Hot Video Alert] Ed Sheeran - Small Bump

"Small Bump" is the heart wrenching new fifth single from English singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran, taken from his critically acclaimed, #1 debut album, +.  The song tells the tale of an expectant father eagerly awaiting that first meeting with his unborn child...a meeting that will never come, as Ed sadly sings in the final verse:

"Cause you were just a small bump unborn for four months, then torn from life. Maybe you were needed up there but we're still un-aware as why."
 So sad.  I'd obviously heard of Ed Sheeran before "Small Bump," but there was something so raw and real about this song that almost compelled me to write about it.  Paired with an equally sad music video, in which Ed Sheeran quietly sits, hunched over in a hospital waiting room, "Small Bump" tears at the heart strings like nothing I've heard in quite some time.

Written by Sheeran and produced by Jake Gosling (Wiley, Crookers), "Small Bump" was released on May 25th in the UK, so far peaking at #101.  The video, which debuted May 10th on YouTube, features a cameo by actor Marcquelle Ward, best known for playing BB in the UK series Britannia High, as well as a recurring role on Coronation Street.  The single was released as an EP with acoustic versions of both "Small Bump" and album track "The City," as well as a remix and alternate version of another album track, "Give Me Love."

+ was released in the UK on September 9th 2011 through Asylum/Atlantic Records when it debuted at #1 on the UK Albums Chart, selling 101,000 copies in it's first week.  Now certified Triple Platinum, the album went on to become the ninth biggest selling album of 2011 in the UK, shifting 791,000 copies.  + will be released in America via Elektra Records on June 12th.
