Mumford & Sons Announce Tour Dates and Album #2, 'Babel,' Out September 25th

Mumford and Sons Babel

While the rest of the world was busy falling in love with British folk rocksters Mumford & Sons, I was likely floating somewhere high above in my Glinda-esque sparkly pink dance/pop bubble.  Now that I've had time to cleanse my musical palate, I've been busy re-acclimating myself to those other musical genres I've been neglecting these past few months and I can say that the forthcoming sophomore album from Mumford & Sons has me all sorts of excited.

Babel will be released through Mumford & Sons' label, Glassnote Records on September 24th in Europe and on September 25th here in the States.  Produced by Markus Dravs (Bj√∂rk, Arcade Fire, Coldplay), Babel serves as the follow up to the band's 2009's Platinum-selling debut, Sigh No More.  One would think that promoting an album for 3+ years would get boring after a while, but according the Mumford & Sons, the band had to literally FORCE themselves to start work on a new record.
"We are more than excited to release Babel into the world. We had started writing new songs well before we got into the studio to record. At first, we peeled ourselves off the road quite reluctantly. We love playing live, obviously, but it had also become an important part of our creative process, we had been writing and rehearsing in soundchecks, and sort of 'road-testing' new songs on our very gracious audiences. But then we fell in love with recording again. The album started to come together, and with the help of Markus Dravs once more (and engineer Robin Baynton), we started to relish the challenge of making this album. As a band, we've never been closer or more collaborative, all working to our strengths. And so we feel that this record is a natural progression that we're proud of, and we cannot wait to take it out on the road."
CANNOT WAIT to hear what Mumford & Sons have come up with this time around.  No word yet what the official first single will be but you can watch the band performing some of their new material over on Billboard.com, in footage from their August 1st show in Hoboken, NJ.  In the meantime, check out the TEASER video BELOW, which the band released onto their official website earlier this summer.  Pre-order Babel HERE and check the band out on tour if you can.
