In Case You Haven't Heard Part I; a Collection of Newish Tunes I Missed While on Hiatus

Well, after a lengthy hiatus from the blogging world, I'M BACK! It's been a while, eh? I think my break warrants a brief explanation, so here it goes. After nearly a decade living in Boston, I've relocated my ass to New Jersey for an exciting new work opportunity. Said work opportunity actually starts on Monday which is both exciting AND nerve wracking. Why Jersey? Well, I've always wanted to move closer to the East Coast music mecca that is New York City and this opportunity just seemed like the right fit. Wish me luck!

Now, back to the music.  To kick things off, I wanted to do a little post featuring some great music videos/songs that I fully intended to give a proper feature, but because of time constraints and other obligations surrounding my move, never could. I've split the songs out into two posts; one that's a bit more rock & roll and a second that's a bit more pop.  First up...The Killers!

Mumford & Sons Announce Tour Dates and Album #2, 'Babel,' Out September 25th

While the rest of the world was busy falling in love with British folk rocksters Mumford & Sons, I was likely floating somewhere high above in my Glinda-esque sparkly pink dance/pop bubble.  Now that I've had time to cleanse my musical palate, I've been busy re-acclimating myself to those other musical genres I've been neglecting these past few months and I can say that the forthcoming sophomore album from Mumford & Sons has me all sorts of excited.

Hot Video Alert: Vanessa Carlton - The Cave (Mumford & Sons Cover)

Singer/songwriter Vanessa Carlton has been busy this past week promoting her new album, the Razor & Tie released Rabbits On The Run. Released July 26th, Rabbits On The Run is Carlton's fourth album and her first on Razor & Tie. Recorded in the UK at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios, the album features production by the legendary Steve Osborne (A-ha, Starsailor, The Twang, KT Tunstall) and collaborations with Ari Ingber (guitarist from The Upwelling), Patrick Hallahan (drummer from My Morning Jacket) and the Capital Children's Choir.

In addition to high profile appearances on Jay Leno and Chelsea Lately, Carlton stopped by Good Day LA and CBS Radio. Carlton also stopped by Billboard and performed her interpretation of "The Cave" by Mumford & Sons for Billboard's web series "Mashup Mondays."  While no where near as haunting or engaging as the original, it's nice to hear Carlton do a cover song. Never known for her dazzling vocal ability, Carlton sounds lovely here, turning out a truly beautiful, heart felt performance, even showcasing her masterful skills on the keyboard. Lovely job.
