Katy Perry - Hot N Cold Remixes

I've received official confirmation that Katy Perry's record label has commissioned DJ/Remix duo Norman & Attalla to remix new single "Hot N Cold". Norman & Attalla is made up of the combined talents of DJ Christopher Norman (formerly Retrobyte) and DJ Anthony Attalla, a Michigan-based pair that also remixed Perry's last single "I Kissed A Girl," which you can hear on Norman's MySpace.

Prior to this news, Jason Nevins was the only other DJ I knew who was touching this track. I'm really excited to hear the Norman & Attalla remixes and to see what other DJs/remixers jump on board!

Ray LaMontagne - New Album

I've loved Ray LaMontagne ever since I heard 'Trouble.' When I heard Kelly Clarkson cover his 'Shelter' live I was even more sold on LaMontagne as an artist. His songwriting always pulls at my heart strings and I can't help but weep. I think that's what any artist really wants right? To make an emotional connection with his or her audience?

His new album, Gossip In The Grain is due out on October 14th and I couldn't be more excited. I'm also excited because I'm seeing him live at the Boston Opera House on October 10th. Originally his album had a September release date, which got me going because I thought I'd have a chance to listen to some of his new material prior to seeing the concert...but oh well. I'll take him where I can get him. I saw him live last year or the year before when he was in Boston performing at the Orpheum theater. He was so brilliant live! Tristan Prettyman opened and she was equally good, but it was Ray LaMontagne that melted my heart! His on stage personal is so real and natural that you can't help but fall in love. From his whole emo/hipster look to his shy comments to the audience and of course his raspy, soulful vocals. Wow. What's not to love?

New single 'You Are The Best Thing' is more up-tempo and happier than his previous efforts. This is not a complaint at all. He has background singers and a bigger band and everything! I love the new sound. I'm hoping this means that 'Grain' is a happier album, as his last two efforts (particularly 'Till The Sun Turns Black') were more depressing. Like I said, I enjoy a good cry to good, sad music, but at this point in my life, I need something to smile about and if 'Best Thing' is any indication, I'll be smiling throughout this whole show. Now I just have to find someone to go with me since I bought 2 tickets!

Christina Aguilera

Christina's new single 'Keeps Gettin' Better has been growing on me more and more since I first heard her perform it on the MTV VMAs. Since then, I learned that it's set to promote her Target exclusive greatest hits project, which I'm now considering purchasing. Any opinions? It includes 2 new versions of 'Genie In a Bottle' and 'Beautiful', which i'm eager to hear, especially if it's anything like the version of 'Genie' that she performed as an intro to 'Keeps Gettin' Better' on the VMAs. There's also 2 new songs - 'Keeps Gettin' Better' and 'Dynamite.'

Track Listing:

"Genie in a Bottle"
"What a Girl Wants"
"I Turn to You"
"Come on Over Baby (All I Want Is You)"
"Dirrty" (featuring Redman)
"Fighter"
"Beautiful"
"Ain't No Other Man"
"Candyman"
"Hurt"
"Genie 2.0"
"Keeps Gettin' Better"
"Dynamite"
"You are What You are (Beautiful)"

Just Purchased on iTunes...

Well...it's New Release Tuesday and I've already made some iTunes purchases. More on what I purchased below but first...did you hear that UK Digital Music retailer, 7Digital is launching a US store soon? I had been a customer on the 7Digital UK site for some time until digital licensing laws recently changed (or started being enforced) and only EU customers were allowed to purchase on the store. I was bummed! I got many remixes, B-Sides and other rare Euro pop/dance that I couldn't find legally online anywhere else. Hopefully this new venture will be fruitful for 7Digital AND for me!

Now...onto todays purchases...
