Hot Video Alert: Elizabeth & The Catapult - Perfectly Perfect

The video for "You and Me" was the first I'd seen (AND heard) of Brooklyn-based pop/rock duo Elizabeth & The Catapult (AKA Dan Molad and Elizabeth Ziman) and I fell in love. The video was quirky and cute and there was something just so alluring about Ziman's vocals AND camera presence. The newly released video for "Perfectly Perfect" may not feature too much of Ziman but the song is just another ingredient in this love potion for me. I can't get enough of these guys! "Perfectly Perfect" is from the band's debut release, Taller Children, released on Verve back in 2009. The single features a doll as the protagonist in this Beck Underwood produced/directed video. The video uses, what might not be considered "PRIMITIVE," stop-motion animation style but the whole thing really just works for the song. Download Taller Children (featuring "Perfectly Perfect") on iTunes HERE. You can also get The Other Side of Zero (featuring "You and Me") on iTunes HERE. Both definitely worth a listen. Check out the super sweet "Perfectly Perfect" video below.

Eliza Doolittle Confirms Joe's Pub, SXSW, Coachella Appearences, Album Out March 22nd

UK singer/songwriter and Music Is My King Size Bed FAVORITE Eliza Doolittle will release her debut full-length album March 22nd on Capitol Records. To help promote the album, Doolittle has two confirmed festival dates in the States, one at SXSW (March 11-20) and one at Coachella (April 15-17), not to mention a performance at Joe's Pub in New York City on February 10th. While not the nationwide tour I was quite hoping for, those are some pretty high profile gigs for an artist who's still virtually unknown here in America. Let's hope these gigs lead to bigger and better things over on this side of the pond.

Doolittle's self-titled debut album will introduce her brand of sunshine-pop to American listeners after having impressed both fans and critics alike in her native UK. While her U.S. debut doesn't introduce any previously unreleased material, it does include all of her past singles - "Rollerblades," "Skinny Genes," and "Pack Up." Originally released back in July of 2010, Doolittle's UK debut has been certified Platinum and her hit single "Pack Up" certified Gold. The song even managed to land a spot on iTunes Rewind as one of 2010's best-selling songs. Here in America, Doolittle's been getting iTunes love as well as the single was offered as the free 'Single of the Week.' After Doolittle's 'Single of the Week' feature her self-titled EP entered the top 10 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. The EP features all of Doolittle's singles as well as the videos and a special interview with the 22-year old singer. Why don't you go and download the EP HERE before you buy her album on March 22nd? Sounds like a plan to me! While you're at it, go watch the video for "Skinny Genes" below. Oh and UK fans, don't feel left out! Doolittle will be releasing her fifth single, "Mr. Medicine" on March 13th.

Hot Video Alert: Rihanna - S&M

Barbadian super diva Rihanna premiered the video for her latest single, "S&M" last night at midnight and, as expected, it's a rip-roarin' raunchy delight. Gags, whips, lots of leather and Perez Hilton on a leash...what more could you ask for in a video for a song called "S&M?" The video was directed by Melina Matsoukas who's done videos for past Rihanna singles including "Hard", "Rude Boy" and "Rockstar 101." Bright colors, fierce wigs and sexy costumes - the video is a visual stimulant - pure & simple.

"S&M" is the fourth single taken from Rihanna's fifth album, the Platinum-selling Loud. The song was produced by Stargate and Sandy Vee and written by Mikkel S. Eriksen, Tor Erik Hermansen, Sandy Wilhelm and Ester Dean. Sent to mainstream and rhythmic radio on January 24th, a special remix package was digitally delivered on January 21st featuring hot mixes from Dave Audé, Joe Bermudez, and Sidney Samson. So far the single has been doing ALRIGHT on the charts, currently sitting at #53 on the Billboard Hot 100, #46 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart and #42 on the official UK Singles chart. The song has done very well in Australia, where it climbed to #3 on the ARIA Singles chart after it's release on January 17th. The remixes are available now on Masterbeat and Loud is in stores now.
