Kimberly Caldwell Releases 'Desperate Girls & Stupid Boys' Remix EP

Vanguard/Capitol Records Recording artist and American Idol-alum Kimberly Caldwell is BACK with a steamy-hot selection of kick-ass remixes for new single, "Desperate Girls & Stupid Boys." Released digitally on Tuesday, this little remix bundle features mixes from some of the best in the industry, including Jason Nevins, Digital Dog, Lucky Date and DJ's From Mars.

The single, which came out December 3rd, is the second official single lifted off Caldwell's forthcoming debut album, Without Regret, due April 19th. Co-written by Tommy Henriksen, singer/songwriter BC Jean and Zac Maloy, "Desperate Girls & Stupid Boys" is an up-tempo club-friendly pop jam that was just itchin' for some club remixes and thanks to these guys, that itch has been scratched. The single currently sits at #50 on the Billboard Dance chart, becoming Kimberly's first charting dance single! Go Kim!

Without Regret, which also includes first single, "Mess Of You," features production by Marshall Altman, Tommy Henriksen, John Mark and MachoPsycho. In addition to writing her own songs, Caldwell had some help from Kara DioGuardi, Nickelback's Chad Kroeger, BC Jean, and Lucie Silvas to name a few. Check out the Lex Halaby-directed video for DGSB below and download the remix EP on iTunes HERE!

Pierre Lewis Moving in New R&B Direction, Taps US Hip/Hop Production Team 'Trap Team' For Debut Album

Photo by Morgan Klang / Scandi Photo
If you haven't checked out Pierre Lewis' official website in a while, you're in for a real treat. The site has been given a much-needed make over and it's now FULL of goodies. As promised, it looks like 2011 is going to be Lewis' year to shine. According to his blog, Lewis has lined up the US production team Trap Team (signed to T-Pain's Dream Star/Nappy Boy Entertainment) to work on a new R&B-tinged pop sound for Lewis' forthcoming album. The album, tentatively due out late summer will be released on Lewis' own label, Colonel Music which is distributed by Universal. Trap Team has worked with the likes of Young Cash, Rick Ross, Slim Thug and of course...T-Pain himself. I gotta admit - I think this shift in direction could really work for Lewis. Describing his planned new sound, Lewis really seems to have a firm grasp on just WHO HE IS as an artist.
"I think most un-manufactured artists go through a phase of transition, I call it the butterfly effect. You start the creative process in auto pilot, being lead along by your ideas of what people want...then a light comes on and you find yourself as an artist, having a vision for both your music and personal style. I’ve stripped away the shine, it's hard cos I really got tarnished with the pop brush... so of course I think the sexier new edge stuff from me is going to be a shock." {SOURCE}
Sexier? Yes please! Last week, in one of his 'Tune in Tuesday' segments, Lewis expanded on this new style. One new song that Lewis is particularly excited about is called "Stay," and Lewis describes it as "taking of where 'Broken' left off, but kind of going with a new R&B direction." Jesse McCartney anyone? I can really see Lewis going in that whole direction. "Broken," as amazing as it was, was pure, unadulterated POP music. I agree that to survive in this tough musical climate, Lewis needs a little bit more edge. From the sounds of it, Trap Team could give Lewis the edge he needs to be taken seriously as the star he really is.

Also keeping Lewis busy? Photo shoots! Check out the absolutely stunning new photos in this post, taken by Morgan Klang from ScandiPhoto. I am loving this whole urban street graffiti look. I think it really suits Lewis, ESPECIALLY now that we know where his music is headed. Can't wait to hear what's next for this guy! Stay tuned here for all the latest on Pierre Lewis!

Ellie Goulding Announces North American Tour Dates, Including SXSW, Coachella Appearances

I have been waiting for this day...oh MAN have I been waiting for this day. Ellie Goulding is COMING TO AMERICA!  The talented singer/songwriter announced today that she'd be going out across the U.S. and Canada in support of her forthcoming debut album, Lights, out March 8th on Cherrytree/Interscope Records.

Starting out in Austin, TX on March 16th and doing four dates at SXSW, Goulding, her drums and (hopefully) tambourine in tow moves across the continent playing in major markets Washington DC, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Minneapolis, Boulder, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Portland, San Fransisco and San Diego. In addition to her U.S. dates, Goulding will cross the border into Canada twice - once in Toronto and once in Vancouver. The tour comes to a close with a performance at the SOLD OUT Coachella music festival. What a run - and I for one can't freakin' wait to see her here in Boston. Looks like she's excited about her adventure as well.
“I’m really excited to come to America and visit new places and see new countryside,” she says. “I feel ready to introduce my music and see what people think of it there. I’m hoping they’ll like it and be inspired, the way I was when I first heard certain artists. I want to create that excitement you get when you’ve discovered something special and feel happy to have ever come across it in the first place.”
Well, Ellie. I've been talking you up to friends and co-workers alike and potentially have a big group coming to see you on March 23rd. Some are familiar and already big fans, some haven't heard of you before but are open minded. I look forward to reaffirming everything I know about how talented you are AND introducing you to a whole new crop of fans. Bring on the tour!

While this trip to America will be her longest, it won't be her first. Promoting the release of her debut EP, An Introduction To Ellie Goulding (download it HERE) last September, the talented "folktronica" singer performed two critically acclaimed gigs in New York and LA. Back in her native UK, Lights was a tremendous success, debuting in the #1 spot on the UK Album Chart. In addition to a #1 album, Goulding's also notched two Top 5 singles ("Starry Eyed" and "Your Song") and two Top 25 ("Guns & Horses," "The Writer") singles in her belt. What about awards and accolades? Already a BRIT award-winner last year, Goulding is currently nominated for two 2011 BRIT awards for 'British Female Solo Artist' and 'British Breakthrough Act'. Find out if she wins on February 15th! Goulding's sixth UK single "Lights" is due out in early 2011. Check out the stunning video below.
