UK Alterna-pop Artist V V Brown Scraps Planned Sophomore Release, 'Lollipops and Politics'; Promises New Album in 2013

V V Brown Lollipops and Politics

For those of us eagerly awaiting the release of UK singer/songwriter V V Brown's sophomore album, Lollipops & Politics, there's some news and you're not going to like it.  The 29 year old "Shark In The Water" hitmaker took to her official Facebook page today, telling fans that the album has been completely scrapped.  While I'm disappointed, I'm willing to wait.  Brown's FANTASTIC breakthrough 2009 debut, Travelling Like The Light was so good, there's no sense in rushing the follow up just for the sake of putting out another album.  Sounds like Brown wasn't happy with the finished product and wants to make sure that album #2 is absolutely perfect.

According to V V Brown:
I cant wait for you guys to here this new album. Lollipops and politics is not going to be released. I didn't feel it was right as an artist and like many artist ranging from Katy Perry, Alicia Keys and many more it sometimes takes the right chemistry to get the right direction that makes you fly.

I feel like I have arrived with new material that truly represents what I have wanted to do. I am sooooo excited.

I've been in France working with producer from M83 and Dave Okumu from The Invisibles and myself. I cannot wait I just cannot wait to reveal this new art driven sound.

"Made By Design"... there will not be too many people in this broth battling over what I should sound like, and although with good intent it sometimes ruins the vision. Now its my time to give you something pure and not made by design but just made by me. All my love VV x
As the old adage goes, "good things come to those who wait," so looks like V V Brown fans are just going to have to wait a little bit longer.  Take your time, do it right, girl.

Back in September of 2011, Brown released the first single from Lollipops & Politics, the Chiddy assisted indie pop banger, "Children." Unfortunately the single failed to take off, not all that promising of a sign.  While I've been eagerly anticipating Brown's followup album, "Children" wasn't my absolute favorite.  I'm excited to hear what Brown has up her sleeve for her as-yet-untitled sophomore album.

In her announcement, V V Brown linked to a live performance of a song called "Samson & Delilah", promising "a new record, a new title and a new artist" in 2013.  While I don't necessarily want a new artist, if the darkly alluring "Samson & Delilah" is indicative of what we can expect to hear on album #2, count me doubly excited!  Check out "Samson & Delilah" BELOW.  Download "Children" right now. Great article, and nice blog that I just discovered!
So sad it was cancelled, some songs seemed to be perfect. Anyway, I'm still impatient for the new album, even if I don't like Samson & Delilah.
