As the release date for Norah Jones's fifth studio album, Little Broken Hearts, draws nearer, Jones' promotional calendar appears to be filling up quite quickly.  Starting with the premiere of her "Goodbye Earl"-reminiscent video (BELOW) for lead single, "Happy Pills," earlier this month on VH1, Jones is in the midst of a media blitz that includes appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman (May 2nd), Good Morning America (May 3rd), The View (May 7th), and The Rachael Ray Show (May 9th).  In addition, Jones will be taping an episode of VH1 Storytellers, set to air June 8th. Past Storytellers subjects have included Sheryl Crow, Ray LaMontagne, Dave Matthews Band, Alanis Moirissette, Jewel and many more of the most prolific artists of our time.  This must be quite the honor for Norah Jones!

As a special treat, Jones has premiered Little Broken Hearts in it's entirety over on NPR's official website, offering fans an "Exclusive First Listen."  The album was produced by Danger Mouse (Gnarls Barkley, Broken Bells, Gorillaz) and will be released May 1st by EMI's Blue Note Records.  Here's what NPR has to say about Little Broken Hearts;
"Always more versatile than most people think, Jones fits all of this smart material to perfection, marking her second decade as a star while making her sound cooler and more unflappably sophisticated than ever."
I have to agree, especially after listening to "Happy Pills" on repeat for the past few weeks.  Jones' collaboration with a musical innovator like Danger Mouse is a wise move, in my opinion.  Little Broken Hearts may be Jones' most daring record to date, and I for one can't wait to see how she interprets this new material on a live stage.

To further promote Little Broken Hearts, Jones will be touring extensively this summer all over the world, starting with an appearance May 25th at the Olympia Theater in Paris followed by dates in Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and London. The North American leg of her tour has been divided into two parts, kicking off June 20th at the Murat Theater in Indianapolis, IN and moving East before hopping on a plane back to Europe for a few dates in Germany, Sweden, Norway and Finland.  Jones returns to the States in early August and then plays a string of West Coast dates.

To help celebrate Record Store Day on April 21st, Norah Jones will release an exclusive 7" Single featuring two album tracks remixed by Dave Sitek of TV on The Radio.  This special edition single will be sold on the Record Store Day website on Saturday April 21st, with all proceeds benefiting ART from the Ashes (AFTA), an organization created to "aid the recovery and restoration process in Bastrop County, Texas, which was devastated by wildfires in September 2011.  AFTA is a non-profit arts organization that supports communities devastated by natural disaster through the creation of art." A worthy cause, no doubt.
