Argentina born/Los Angeles based singer/songwriter Mia Maestro might be best known for her work in television and film, most notably in the 2002 movie Frida opposite Salma Hayek and in J.J. Abrams' ("Lost", "Fringe") 2001 - 2006 spy series, "Alias." .  In fact, when I stopped to read the press release about her new single," I did a double take.  "Mia Maestro? Nadia Santos from Alias? WTF?" I had no idea that she was a singer.  Mia just released a STUNNING new music video for a song called, "Blue Eyed Sailor," the first single from her upcoming debut EP of the same name which is due out December 4th on Vapor Records.

Directed by media-artist Juan Azulay and Oscar-winning cinematographer Guillermo Navarro (Pan's Labyrinth), the video for "Blue Eyed Sailor" is based on the beautiful camouflage art of Cecilia Paredes, who serves as art consultant on the video shoot.  The video's "striking cinematography...brilliantly captures the spirit of Mia Maestro's unique flavor of experimental pop."  Check it out BELOW!

"Blue Eyed Sailor" features pianist Thomas Bartlett (Antony & The Johnsons, Doveman, The National) and is just one of three tracks that appears on the new EP.  Also included, "Time To Go," a duet with Irish singer/songwriter Damien Rice ("Cannonball," "The Blower's Daughter") and "Llovera," which was featured on the soundtrack to The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part One," in which Maestro appeared as "Carmen" from the Denali coven, a role which she assumes once more in the recently released sequel.

According to the press release:
"Mia Maestro uses her experience as an actress to help fuse together her music with theatrical elements. Born in Buenos Aires, she grew up and found a love for some of the world's most renowned songwriters like Patti Smith and Leonard Cohen. She began cultivating her own dynamic and evocative voice at a young age, taking singing lessons around the age of thirteen. Influenced by everything from rock to opera, her voice shines, soaring above even the most turbulent orchestrations. Like the best classical pieces, her voice evokes emotion, finding the heart-wrenching notes in the subtlest of inflections. Influenced by singer-songwriters, her voice takes you on a journey, transporting you through poetry to places that once existed only in your imagination."
Check out the STUNNING video for "Blue Eyed Sailor" BELOW and prepare to be mesmerized by the multi-talented Mia Maestro.
