[Hot Video Alert] Amy Macdonald - Slow It Down

Amy Macdonald Slow It Down

Just this past week, Scottish singer/songwriter Amy Macdonald released the video for her new single, "Slow It Down," taken from her upcoming third album, Life In A Beautiful Light, due June 11th (iTunes UK) via Melodramatic/Mercury Records.  Macdonald stars in the Pip-directed video, standing alongside a desert cliff with a beautiful mountain vista as her backdrop, skillfully strumming her guitar. The video is interspersed with clips of a handsome dark haired guy, played by at three different actors, (each representing said GUY at different ages) as he runs, rides a horse, swims and drives in search of, seemingly, a lost love.  It's really quite beautiful.

Scottish Pop Rocker Amy MacDonald Delivers on New Single, Third Album Due June 11th

Amy MacDonald

My favorite Scottish pop/rocker is BACK with a brand new single and I couldn't be more excited!  Last time we heard from 24 year old Amy MacDonald from Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire, Scotland was back in 2010 when she released her sophomore album, A Curious Thing.  Now, MacDonald, one of Europe's biggest selling singer/songwriters is ready to dazzle the world with her insane guitar skills, powerful songwriting and rich, character-filled vocals.  On June 11th, MacDonald will release both her brand new album, Life in a Beautiful Light, as well as lead single, "Slow It Down."  Usually singles are released pretty far in advance of an album, especially in the UK no? Whatever - bring it on! I love everything about Amy MacDonald!

Hot Video Alert: Amy MacDonald - Your Time Will Come

Released in early December, "Your Time Will Come" is the 5th single to be lifted off Scottish singer/songwriter Amy MacDonald's sophomore album, A Curious Thing (Mercury Records). While the album itself had an impressive enough debut on the UK Album Chart, coming in at #4, her singles have not fared as well. Lead single, "Don't Tell Me That It's Over" peaked at #48, while her fourth single, "Love, Love" only managed to land at #183. What about "Your Time Will Come?" Not good, it has yet to chart. This song, like the rest of the tracks included on A Curious Thing, was penned MacDonald herself. The video feature some behind the scenes footage of MacDonald during a live performance, interspersed with rehearsal footage, various other bits of promo and some newly shot footage of MacDonald singing the song. "Your Time Will Come" is a beautiful, heart felt piece of mid tempo pop rock and MacDonald sounds just as lovely as ever. Here's hoping that her disappointing single sales don't mean that her time has come. The 23 year old Scot has a lot left to bring.

Amy MacDonald Set To Release 'Love Love' In October, Embarks on New UK Tour

Scottish singer/songwriter Amy MacDonald is been one of my favorite imports for quite some time now. Well...I guess not all that long since her debut album only came out in 2007 but still. Since 2007 at least I've been raving about Amy MacDonald.  As if I needed another Amy MacDonald song to rave about, she releases her new single "Love Love" on October 4th through Mercury Records.  Brilliant!
There's just something mesmerizing about the way she sings and it could very well be her BEAUTIFUL Scottish accent.  I also have a feeling that it has something to do with her talent, both as a songwriter and as a vocalist.  She just writes and sings so far beyond her years (she's only 23!) it's astounding to me.  Her voice is deeper and more soulful than you'd expect, given her petite appearance but then again, looks can certainly be deceiving. A Curious Thing is the 2010 follow up to her debut album, This Is The Life, which went all the way to the #1 spot in the UK (not to mention in Switzerland, Denmark and Belgium).  While A Curious Thing didn't match it's predessor's chart success, it did quite well on it's own, peaking at #4 when it was released this past March.
"Big, bold and dramatic.  Intimate, tender and touching. It's Amy MacDonald, full-voiced and rebooted and reenergised, with added hammering piano and a couple of guest spots from Paul Weller."
While MacDonald's albums tend to sell, her performance history on the singles chart is less than stellar over in the UK.  To date, her best performing single has been "Mr. Rock & Roll," the second single off of her debut album.  "Love Love" is the fourth single to be released off of A Curious Thing, so hopefully it will do better than her previous three efforts.  Lead single "Don't Tell Me That It's Over" peaked at #48 while "This Pretty Face" only managed to hit the #138 spot.  "Spark" failed to chart at all in the UK.  In all fairness, her singles have been performing better elsewhere in Europe.
Busy promoting the album all over Europe, Amy MacDonald played a sold out UK tour  including a set at the prestigious Shepherds Bush Empire and NOW she's set to embark on a new UK tour this upcoming October.  Check out the tour dates below and pick up her new single "Love Love" on October 4th.

Hot Video (and Remix) Alert: Amy MacDonald - Spark

For those of you NOT yet familiar with 22 year old Scottish singer Amy MacDonald, I suggest you check out her first CD, 2007's This Is The Life and the single of the same name (the album's 4th and most successful single).  Her new album, A Curious Thing, was released in March, lead by first single "Don't Tell Me That It's Over."  Second single, "Spark" was released on May 10th and marks the first time MacDonald has been remixed for the dance clubs.  On the remix we have the fabulous Dutch DJ Tiësto, the very talented British producer/remixer Tom Middleton and DiscoTech. AMAZING!  So far the single has peaked at #1 in Belgium. Love everything about this girl.
