Hot Video Alert: CockNBullKid - Yellow

Poor CockNBullKid! Wherever she goes she's being followed by shady characters. In the video for "One Eye Closed," she's followed by scary monsters. In the video for "Hold On To Your Misery," she's followed by dancing, pouty pint size dopplegangers. In "Asthma Attack," girl is just trying to walk home at night when all of the sudden, these random back up dancers show up and start following her. CRAZY!

In the video for her latest single, "Yellow," Anita Blay is minding her own bIZness, walking around a sound stage, when all of these overly happy stage hands carrying all sorts of props, show up and start doing a line dance with big fake smiles on their faces. CockNBullKid plays it cool though. Every time, she just ignores whatever nonsense is going on behind her. I like the way she works it.

"Yellow" is set to be released August 8th as CockNBullKid's fourth single off her tragically unsuccessful YET FUCKING AMAZING debut album, Adulthood. The song features remixes by Greenmoney, K&S and Mneksnois. Speaking of the remixes, you can listen to the superhot Greenmoney remix below. Just be warned, it's part of a longer set but the CockNBullKid remix comes about 22 minutes into the set and it's definitely worth the wait.  Posted over on the Get Me! music blog as a "Guest Mix," the Iowa-based Greenmoney are ones to keep an eye out for as well.  Download Adulthood on UK iTunes HERE and stay tuned for the album's forthcoming U.S. release!  "Yellow" will be released August 8th via Moshi Moshi/Island Records.

CockNBullKid Set to Release Fourth Single in August, Covers Destiny's Child with Eliza Doolittle

Artwork by Jonathan Knowles
One of my FAVORITE new artists, Ms. Anita Blay (AKA CockNBullKid) has a new album out, a bunch of UK tour dates and a new single due out in August. Busy summer for CockNBullKid!  Hopefully she can find some time to release her beautiful album, Adulthood, here in the States.  She already hinted that it's coming, but no word just yet as to when.  In the meantime, CockNBullKid's fourth single, "Yellow," is due out in the UK on August 8th and it's been remixed by Greenmoney, Keith & Supabeatz, and Mneksnois.

If you're in the UK make sure you catch CockNBullKid on tour this summer.  She'll be playing the Glastonbury Festival, Latitude Festival, Underage Festival, Field Day Festival, Leeds Festival and Reading Festival as well as a gig at The Nest in London.  While she's not touring and promoting, CockNBullKid has been getting together with some of her friends and recording sick covers.  Last post I linked to her performance of Plan B's "He Said" with Clare Maguire.  This time, she's joined by Eliza Doolittle on a rousing cover of "Bills, Bills, Bills" by Destiny's Child. AMAZING!  Check out the performance below and take a peak at CockNBullKid's tour dates while you're at it.  Download her new album Adulthood on UK iTunes HERE.

CockNBullKid Releases Debut Album, U.S. Release Planned for Later this Year

CockNBullKid (AKA Anita Blay) is an artist I briefly mentioned in my massive music video round up when I got back from Mexico. Since then, I've been listening to her song "Asthma Attack" on repeat and thought that my love for this song warranted doing a proper post. While I still have trouble saying the name CockNBullKid out loud, I have no problem whatsoever telling people that they need to listen to her music.  I just do it over email instead of verbally.

"Asthma Attack" is the third single lifted off her just released debut album, Adulthood and the follow up to previous singles "One Eye Closed" and "Hold On To Your Misery." Released on Moshi Moshi/Island Records, Adulthood was recorded in London, Paris and Stockholm and produced by Liam Howe (Mariana and The Diamonds, Adele). Look out for collaborations with Gonzales, Peter Bjorn & John's Peter Morén and Metronomy's Joseph Mount.  CockNBullKid just shot a video for just announced single #4, "Yellow," so look out for that shortly.

Adulthood is out now on the UK, download it on UK iTunes HERE. As for U.S. audiences, per a Tweet from the CockNBullKid herself, it's coming out soon so "stay tuned!"  In the meantime, check out fantastic videos for both "Asthma Attack" and "Hold On To Your Misery" below.  Also worth a listen is this live duet between CockNBullKid and Music Is My King Size Bed-favorite Clare Maguire.  Watch these two lovely divas cover Plan B's "He Said" HERE.  CockNBullKid is a complete original.

In Case You Missed It...Music Video Round Up

SO you all know I LOVE music videos. Turns out I missed a s%@t load of them during my brief hiatus, so instead of going through them one by one...I decided to post them all at once, starting with the oldest. Here we go!

I HEART The Wanted. My favorite new UK boy band. "Gold Forever" is a dance-pop gem from their forthcoming sophomore album. Written and produced by Steve Mac and co-written by Wayne Hector and Claude Kelly the song was the official 2011 Comic Relief Charity single. The single debuted at #3 on the UK Singles chart, going on to become the band's third top-ten hit. Featuring remixes by Steve Smart & Westfunk, and Moto Blanco the single is destined to be a dance club hit as well. The fun video premiered in early March and was filmed on the same set as The King's Speech. Check out the boys and their cute clown noses above. Darling!  Look out for single #2, "Lightning," written by another favorite of mine, Mr. Ed Drewett.

"Gone" (AKA Dilemma Pt. 2) is the latest single from U.S. rapper Nelly's 5.0 album. "Gone" was written by Eric Goody II, Cornell Haynes, Earl Hood, Rico Love and Jim Jonsin (and produced by the latter two). In the Marc Klasfeld-directed video, Kelly Rowland reprises her role as Nelly's love interest, a role she first played in the video for his 2002 hit single, "Dilemma." While not as catchy as "Dilemma" it's nice to see Kelly and Nelly back together again. To date, the song has peaked at #59 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
"I'll Take Care Of You" is the latest single to be lifted off of American Soul artist Gil Scott-Heron's new album, We're New Here. We're New Here is actually a remixed album, produced by Jamie xx (of The xx). Scott-Heron's album was called I'm New Here, and is predominantly a blues and spoken-word album, like many of Scott-Heron's previous albums. Jamie xx seems to infuse electronic-elements into the original material seamlessly. The emotional, beautiful video for "I'll Take Care Of You" was directed by JJ Medina and AG Rojas and follows the story of an extraordinary young woman, single mother and boxer - Nisa Rodriguez. Playing like a mini movie, this stunning video shows the day-in-the-life of Rodriguez. Definitely worth a look.
