[NSFW] Hot Video Alert: Daniel Bedingfield - Rocks Off

Daniel Bedingfield Rocks Off

Daniel Bedingfield is BACK folks. For years I've been passively aggressively Tweeting in Bedingfield's direction, inquiring about new music ventures. new projects and the like. While Bedingfield never took the time to personally respond to my messages, he did me one up.  He released a new song, his first since 2005, I might add.  For those of you still stuck on the Daniel Bedingfield of the early 2000s, it's time to move on.  The new Daniel Bedingfield is going to take some getting used to, that's for sure.

"Rocks Off" is the first song lifted from Bedingfield's forthcoming new EP, Stop The Traffik - Secret Fear, due on April 24th.  "Rocks Off" is an aggressively manic and very percussive pop/rock thumper, completely different than anything we've heard Bedingfield do before.  Clocking in at just over a minute long, the song is also extremely short.  What the song lacks in minutes and seconds, it more than makes up for in intensity.  Also for a treat, make sure you check out his racy video for the song below.  Warning, there's nudity so definitely NSFW. Released digitally on March 13th, the single features a B-Side called "It's Not Me It's You," which, at 3:19 is not only is a more appropriate length for a single, it also showcases Bedingfield's new sound more than "Rocks Off" ever could.  Decidedly more rock than garage-tinged pop, Bedingfield's new music is very promising indeed. At the very least, it's left me wanting to hear more.

Hot Video Alert: David Archuleta - Something 'Bout Love

I should have known this was going to happen. David Archuleta's new single, "Something 'Bout Love" is growing on me.  Leave it to a music video to take a song that I previously wasn't feeling and turn it around nearly completely.  I still maintain that "Something 'Bout Love" is pretty safe territory for the young singer but the song is definitely sweet.  The song is accompanied by an equally sweet music video, which premiered yesterday on VEVO and features a sad-looking Archuleta and a cast of attractive young people.  The video is your average happy, feel good music video, featuring the teenagers doing a variety of good deeds for other people, under the influence of...let me guess...love?  The song is the first single off of Archuleta's second album, The Other Side of Down, due out October 5th on Jive Records.  "Something 'Bout Love" was written by Archuleta, Chris DeStefano, Dave "Sluggo" Katz and Sam Hollander. It's available to download now on iTunes.

David Archuleta Unveils Single Artwork, Releases 'Something 'Bout Love' July 20th

I don't know whether to LOVE or HATE our boy 'Archie.' On his season of American Idol, I didn't really like David Cook's genre of music but thought he was super talented. David Archuleta was talented too...but his music was kind of bland. The new Archuleta single, "Something 'Bout Love" comes out digitally July 20th on Jive Records and I'm on the fence about the song. Written by Archie and the writing pair S*A*M and Sluggo (the duo behind Metro Station's "Shake It"), it doesn't really do ANYTHING for me. It's a fine, average pop song but there's no WOW factor. Let's be honest though, "Crush" wasn't anything brilliant either yet it managed to climb to the #2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. I guess if Archuleta is happy releasing SAFE pop music time and time again, then so be it. I, for one am getting a little bored.

Archuleta Gets Better Album Artwork in the UK

WTF Jive Records? W.T.F. The Coverlandia blog recently posted the official UK single artwork for his Billboard Top 2 hit "Crush" and I have to say, I'm rather baffled. The label's UK subsidiaries must be throwing considerable resources into marketing David Archuleta as a pop wunderkind...a point made abundantly clear when comparing Archuleta's new UK single artwork to his U.S. single artwork. The U.S. artwork looks tacky and amateurish while the UK artwork more closely parallels his more high quality album artwork. Yeah, I know...this is isn't that big of a deal. I just find it funny.

David Archuleta - A Little Too Not Over Your (Remixes)

David Archuleta Another purchase on Masterbeat! Lord help me! I need a second job! There's a nice little remix package available for David's follow up single to "Crush," "A Little Too Not Over You." Remixes are by Jason Nevins, Tonal and a Mental Instruments Mix. They are all decent and very radio friendly. I think the Nevins' mixes take the cake, though.
