[Hot Video Alert] Hurts - Miracle

Hurts | Miracle | Pack Art | Single Artwork| Music Is My King Size Bed

British synthpop duo, Hurts (AKA Theo Hutchcraft & Adam Anderson) have been on my list of bands to see since the release of their STUNNING debut album, Happiness in 2010.  Unfortunately, the band has yet to really spend any time promoting their work here in America but here's hoping they do at some point!  The band recently released their sophomore album, Exile, on March 11th via Major Label/RCA.  Preceding the release of the album was the band's LUSH lead single, "Miracle," which was accompanied by a simple, yet still epic visual (which you can watch BELOW the fold).  While the song has a certain Coldplay feel to me, it's just too beautiful to ignore.  This song sounds expensive, and I like expensive things.

Hot Video Alert: Hurts - Sunday

The new single from British electro-pop duo Hurts (Theo Hutchcraft, Adam Anderson) was rises from #147 to #57 on the UK Singles Chart this week. It's disappointing to me that this talented act hasn't really taken off in the UK like I think it should have by now. Hurts, while clearly inspired by electronic pioneers like Depeche Mode and The Pet Shop Boys do bring something unique and interesting to the genre. The latest video release, that of new single "Sunday" is a stunningly beautiful yet hauntingly dark clip, centering around a tragic car accident which appears to claim the life of a young woman. Directed beautifully by W.I.Z. (Massive Attack, Oasis, Marilyn Manson) and filmed on location in Romania, the video's female star is Romanian actress Laura Cosoi, whio also appeared in Hurts' video for "Better Than Love." The video, a 1940s re-telling of the Greek myth Orpheus, where Cosoi plays Orpheus' tempatation in the Underworld {SOURCE}.  Truly a beautiful video.

To date, the group's best selling single has been "Wonderful Life," which peaked at #21 on the UK Singles Chart while follow up single, "Stay," managed to debut at #50. When Hurts released their debut album in September of last year it debuted at #4, which seemed to be a quite promising sign of things to come. Unfortunately chart success has eluded them since then.  "Sunday" is the fourth single to be released off the duo's debut album Happiness.  The single is backed by remixes from Seamus Haji, Midland, Tom Flynn and Glam As You.

Hot Video Alert: Hurts - Wonderful Life

I definitely see where the Depeche Mode comparisons are coming from with Hurts and while that comparison is DEFINITELY a lot to live up to, I think the boys will rise to the challenge.  The STUNNINGLY beautiful video for their new single "Wonderful Life" premiered last week and I can't get enough. Due out in the UK on August 23rd the single was actually already released in Denmark this past May with a different video. This NEW video was shot on location in beautiful Ibiza. The video features the handsome British electro-synth duo, Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson, standing solemnly surrounded by by a variety of dancers, synchronized swimmers and other extras. The video's theme seems to be rather morose, with all of the guests wearing black and looking very sad.  Not sure if it's supposed to be some sort of a wake or what...not the most uplifting video yet still very beautiful.

"Wonderful Life" is the second official UK single taken from Hurts' debut album Happiness, out September 6th on RCA. It was preceded by "Better Than Love," which peaked at #50 on the Official Singles Charts. Look out for "Wonderful Life" remixes by the Freemasons, Arthur Baker and Kurtis Mantronix.  Check out the original video for the single here.

Pure 'Happiness': Hurts Unveil Album Artwork, Tracklisting for Debut LP

The electronica duo from Manchester, Hurts have announced the tracklisting and cover art for their debut album, Happiness, due out in the UK September 6th on RCA Records.  The duo's debut single "Better Than Love" came out at the end of May and was written by Hurts (Theo Hutchcraft, Adam Anderson) and Joseph Cross.  While the single, which featured remixes from Tiefschwarz and Jamaica, only peaked at #50 on the UK Singles Chart, it made it to #6 on the Dance Chart.  On August 23rd, before the album's fall release the boys are re-releasing "Wonderful Life" as their second UK single. I say "re-release" because the song was released in Denmark as a digital single where it turned into a Top Ten hit.  I quite enjoy these guys. Their sound is Very CHILL electronica, and while I typically go for the more hard-hitting HOUSE tracks and remixes, the Hurts' brand of electronica is quite refreshing.  "Wonderful Life" actually quite reminds me of what New Radicals could have been had they stuck together as a band. Kind of an ELECTRO-fied New Radicals. I happen to think that's a compliment.  Check out this cool video clip about the making of their next video, likely a new video for "Wonderful Life."
