Hot Video Alert: Sean Paul feat. Alexis Jordan - Got 2 Luv U

Don't get it twisted...I am NOT a Sean Paul fan, but add a hot female vocal to a Sean Paul track and I'm totally game.  In 2003 there was Beyoncé's "Baby Boy," not to mention Blu Cantrell's "Breathe."  In 2006 we had Rihanna's "Break It Off," and Keyshia Cole's "(When You Gonna) Give It Up To Me)."  While the Jamaican Paul has released tunes with female collaborators since 2006, nothing stands out in my mind.  "Got 2 Luv U" is a Stargate-produced song taken from Paul's forthcoming fifth studio album and it features none other than my favorite 19 year old American dance-popstar in training Alexis Jordan.

After releasing 3 smokin' hot dance singles ("Happiness," "Good Girl," "Hush Hush") back in September Jordan released an amateur lyric video for a Ne-Yo-penned dud called "Layin Around With You" and I got really nervous that it was her next single. Luckily we we spared that bore of a song, instead being slapped with "Say That," which while not AWFUL was only a few notches better than "Layin' Around."  Sorry, I'm all about the occasional ballad but after delivering 3 fierce dance pop singles, you can't let the momentum drop so hard and fast.  If all that's left on Jordan's debut album is filler, perhaps you should give it a rest and work on new material.

AND I digress. Jordan's feature on Sean Paul's is hot. It's nice to see her doing her thing in a sexy, fiery reggae-infused pop number like "Got 2 Luv U."  The song was written by Paul, Ryan Tedder and Stargate and the sexy video was directed by Ben Mor.  While the track only managed to peak at #84 on the Billboard Hot 100, the song did fare better elsewhere, reaching #1 in Switzerland and going top 5 in Poland, Romania, Germany and France.  The song also was a top 10 hit in the Netherlands, Spain, Norway, Belgium and Austria.  In the UK the single peaked just outside of the top 10, reaching a decent #11 chart position on the singles chart.  Download "Got 2 Luv U" on U.S. iTunes HERE.

Hot Video Alert: Alexis Jordan - Hush Hush

19 year old pop star Alexis Jordan is really holding her own, considering how young she is. Jordan is set to release her third single, "Hush Hush," on June 12th in the UK. Taken from her debut self-titled album, "Hush Hush" was written by Autumn Rowe, StarGate and Sandy Vee and produced by StarGate and Vee.  The single is an up-tempo club song in the exact same vein as both of Jordan's previous singles, "Happiness" and "Good Girl," both of which topped the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play Chart despite receiving little to no promotion. That's pretty impressive!

The song, while not yet released digitally, has already managed to chart in both Ireland and in the UK, debuting at #49 and #163 respectively. I anticipate the song to climb significantly higher after it's June release. I mean there's no reason for it NOT to, right? It's just as hot, if not hotter than both "Happiness," which peaked at #3, and "Good Girl," which peaked at #6. Check out the Clifton Bell-directed music video below (U.S. readers click HERE for the video) and get ready for "Hush Hush," due out June 12th on Star Roc/Roc Nation Records.  Look for remixes by Tom Neville, Cahill and Full Intention.

Alexis Jordan Tops the Billboard Dance Chart, Releases New UK Single + Remixes

19 year old American pop/R&B singer Alexis Jordan will release her third UK single, "Hush Hush" on May 8th. The up-tempo track was produced by StarGate and Sandy Vee and co-written by StarGate, Sandy Wilhelm and Autumn Rowe. Following in the dance club appeal of previous singles "Happiness" and "Good Girl" - releasing "Hush Hush" as single #3 was a given, especially given that nearly all of the remaining tracks on Jordan's self-titled debut album are mid-tempo songs or ballads.

Jordan has been promoting her album in Europe recently, where it's been doing well. The album, which came out at the end of February, was a top 10 hit in the UK and peaked at #11 in Australia. First single "Happiness" went #1 in the Netherlands and in Norway and was a top 3 hit in both the UK and Australia. "Good Girl," while not as successful as "Happiness" still managed to hold it's own on the European charts, peaking at #6 on the UK Singles Chart and #15 in Ireland. While Jordan has yet to hone in on the American market yet, she's already topped the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play charts twice, with second single "Good Girl" topping the chart this week. On April 22nd, Jordan Tweeted: "'Good Girl' is #1 on US billboard dance chart! and it hasn't officially been released." Not bad considering there's been virtually no promo at all here in the States.

Like both of Jordan's previous two singles, "Hush Hush" has lined up quite the remix package for the UK club scene.  Past remix packages have included mixes by Michael Woods, Dave Audé, Freemasons, Kim Fai, among others.  This time around we have Tom Neville and Cahill on the remix.  Sounds like Jordan has her eyes set on another #1 dance hit!  You can listen to a short clip of the new single, "Hush Hush," above.  American fans can download the "Happiness" remixes on iTunes HERE.

Adele Tops UK Singles & Albums Chart, Earns First #1 Single

Adele overload! Wow GIRRRRL! You go! UK singer/songwriter Adele earns her first #1 single this week with "Someone Like You," which quickly rose to the top following an ABSOLUTELY spellbinding performance at the 2011 BRIT Awards. Co-penned by Adele and Dan Wilson, the heartfelt ballad sits atop the chart for the second week in a row, right above Jessie J's "Price Tag" which is sitting pretty in the #2 spot. Rihanna's "S&M" climbs 3 spots into #3, topping Adele's debut single "Rolling In The Deep," which remains in the 4th position, giving Adele 4 singles in the Top 100 this week (along with "Make You Feel My Love" and "Chasing Pavements"). Making it's debut this week, the infectious pop/dance smash "Good Girl" by U.S. singer Alexis Jordan. "Good Girl" is the follow up to "Happiness," which peaked at #3 when it was released last October. Not a bad showing for a second single, eh? I'm still hoping for a U.S. release! In other chart news, Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" dips down 5 spots to #8 this week. Looks like the UK isn't as in love with "Born This Way" as the rest of the world is? I can't say I'm too shocked.

Other new entries this week include the Gwyneth Paltrow/Matthew Morrison Rihanna cover from Glee (#22) and Clare Maguire's second single, "The Last Dance" (#23). Gwyneth also makes an appearence at #31 with her Cee-Lo Green "Forget You" cover (also from Glee).  We'll have to see if next week's new releases unseat any of our Top Ten.  On the schedule we have new tunes from Chipmunk featuring Keri Hilson, James Blake, X-Factor contestant Mary Byrne, McFly, Natalia Kills, Olly Murs, Plan B, Tinie Tempah featuring Ellie Goulding and Willow Smith, just to name a few.  Should be interesting...

Adele's good fortune continues on the Official Album Chart front as well as 21 spends yet another week at #1. That's 5 weeks now. Impressive to say the least! Not only that but Adele's album, which came out in America last week, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. Way to go lady! Her debut, 19 (which sits in the #2 spot this week on the UK Albums Chart) peaked at #10 here in the States so this is pretty epic. The Glee Cast make a strong debut at #4 with Volume 4 of their popular compilation albums. The rest of the Top Ten just doesn't interest me so I won't waste your time. Check out the link below to see the whole 100. Other new entries this week include Gil Scott-Heron & Jamie XX's new collaboration album We're New Here (#33) as well as...well. That's all I got for you.  Look out for new albums next week from Avril Lavigne, Kanye West, Noah & The Whale, Lupe Fiasco, Marianne Faithfull, Pet Shop Boys and Slash.  I hate to see it but I honestly don't see any of these guys dethroning Adele but who knows. Stranger things have happened.

Hot Video Alert: Alexis Jordan - Good Girl

Hard to believe pop singer Alexis Jordan is only 18 years old. What a voice! In the video for her new single "Good Girl," Jordan struts her stuff around looking all fresh faced as if she'd just finished filming a Neutrogena commercial. In addition to being a great singer Jordan appears to have some quality dance moves down as well.

Jordan first rose to fame in 2006 when she audition for the first season of America's Got Talent. Singing a rendition of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing," Jordan made it to the next round but was eliminated in the semi finals. After America's Got Talent, the South Carolina-native and her family moved to Atlanta and Jordan started releasing music on her YouTube channel. By 2008 Jordan's YouTube videos were racking up millions of views, ultimately getting her noticed by production super team Stargate (Beyonce, Brandy) who had her fly to New York and record some material. During her time working with Stargate, Jay-Z caught wind of the talented young singer and signed her to his label, StarRoc/Roc Nation/Sony Music.

First single "Happiness" was co-written by Joel Thomas Zimmerman (AKA deadmau5), Autumn Rowe, and co-written and produced by Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel S. Eriksen. While failing to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, "Happiness" went straight to the top of both the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play and Hot Dance Airplay charts. The single also peaked at #3 on the UK Singles chart and #3 in Australia where it's been certified Gold, shipping over 35,000 units.

Single #2, "Good Girl" is due for release in the UK on February 20th, followed by the release of her self titled debut album on February 28th. So far "Good Girl" has been remixed by UK dance outfit Freemasons. Considering "Happiness" was remixed by the Wideboys, Dave Aude, Jump Smokers and Michael Woods, I can only imagine that "Good Girl" will also get some more remixes. Alexis Jordan is a beautiful young talent. Catchy, slick dance pop. That's what I like. Bring on more of the same! Download the "Happiness" remixes on iTunes HERE.
