Towards the end of June, pop's newest spunky spitfire Colette Carr unveiled the video for her latest single, "Like I Got A Gun," taken from her forthcoming debut album, Skitszo, which was recorded in Europe and the States and is due later this year. Natalia Kills Not Quite Done with America: Embarks on Fall Tour with The Sounds

Natalia Kills is set to return to North America to continue promoting her debut album, Perfectionist this Fall with two sets of dates. Kicking things off October 30th in Boston, the U.S. leg of Kills' tour sees her joining forces with Swedish indie rock band The Sounds. The 9 city tour concludes on November 11th, before Kills moves up and over the border into Canada where she will embark on a 10 city tour starting November 13th in Quebec City as part of the Cherrytree Pop Alternative Tour. The Canadian leg of the tour sees Kills joining Cherrytree Records labelmates LMFAO, Far East Movement, Frankmusik, Kay, Rye Rye and Collette Carr. Sounds like a party!

Since releasing her album in the States this past August Kills released will.i.am collaboration, "Free," did guest vocals (and appeared in the video) for LMFAO's dark and dancetastic "Champagne Showers" not to mention turning out a lovely feature on Far East Movement's "2 Is Better" and Frankmusik's "Do It In The AM." As if that wasn't enough to keep her busy, Natalia Kills also features on "1974" by The Krux, taken from their debut album Eraser. Busy busy busy! You have to hand it to Kills...she's really going all out on the promotion of her debut album. I wish all artists (and labels) had such a strong work ethic!

Here in the States, Perfectionist peaked at #1 on the Billboard Heakseekers Albums chart, #6 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart, and #134 on the Billboard 200. Over Europe the album fared a little bit better, peaking at #129 in the UK, #35 and #50 on the Austrian and German charts (respectively). In Canada the album also did significantly better than it did in the States, peaking at #36.

The fact that the album charted at all here in America is a miracle, and while I was hoping for better, something is better than nothing. To date, Kills has yet to have a single on the Billboard Hot 100, although "Mirrors" did peak at #3 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart. Hot Video Alert: Frankmusik featuring Colette Carr - No I.D.

Music Is My King Size Bed favorite, Frankmusik, premiered the video for his latest single yesterday on the AOL Music Blog. An infectious summery pop jam, "No I.D." was released on iTunes September 6th and is the third official single lifted off Vincent Frank's sophomore album, Do It In The AM due out later this month via Island Records/Cherrytree/Interscope Records. Featuring fellow Cherrytree Records newbie Colette Carr, "No I.D." is the perfect pop song to close out the summer. Unlike previous singles, "The Fear Inside" and "Do It In The AM," "No I.D." strays away from his familiar electropop sounds, instead delivering a sassy mid-tempo pop jam with hints of reggae.  Carr absolutely shines in this duet, showcasing more of her vocal ability that we really didn't get to see on her equally hot debut single (produced by Frankmusik) "(We Do It) Primo."  While I do love the club beats Frankmusik usually brings to the table, I have to admit that I kind of like seeing this softer, more playful side.

The second track off of the album, "No I.D." was co-written by Frank, Carr, Nick Dresti and Martin "Cherry Cherry Boom Boom" Kierszenbaum, and will be featured on both Do It In The AM as well as on Carr's forthcoming debut album.  According to Carr, "There are always insane creative vibes when we are in the studio together, we never know what we will come up with, and we feed off the energy of the unknown." Frank himself echoed that very same sentiment, saying, “It was amazing working with Colette and transforming the original rap style into a sung song."  It's nice to see such mutual admiration between two equally talented artists.  The addition of Frankmusik and Colette Carr to the already impressive Cherrytree roster just goes to show how focused on creating quality music Cherrytree Records really is.

The Hyperballad-directed video pays tribute to Grease, featuring Frankmusik in the Danny Zuko role and a STUNNING Colette Carr playing the part of Sandy Olsson.  Look out for a cameo from fellow up & coming popstar Simon Curtis, dancing his cute little ass off in a scene featuring Frank and the boys.  While I fail to see a parallel between the video and the lyrics, I just don't give a s@*t because the song is just so much damn fun!  Frankmusik is set to release Do It In The AM on September 26th in the UK and on September 27th here in the States (pre-order it HERE).  In addition to releasing his own album, Frank is currently on tour with the legendary electropop group Erasure, whose album he also worked on.  Check out Colette Carr's video for "(We Do It) Primo" HERE and download her single on U.S. iTunes HERE as well as a brand new EP with remixes HERE.  You can also snag "No I.D." on iTunes HERE. Hot Video Alert: Colette Carr - (We Do It) Primo

If you haven't listened to Colette Carr's uber-delightful, super catchy new single, "(We Do It) Primo)" then DO IT NOW!!  Check out the freshy fresh, just released video for 20-year old Colette Carr's Frankmusik-produced, Keane-sampling single. The super cute video was directed by Nate Weaver and features Carr romping around a California cul-de-sac and playing with sparklers in her "nude illusions" sequined/bejeweled top (as seen in the artwork above). Throughout the video, Carr showcases her unique sense of style and electric personality.  She truly is a star in the making. About a month ago I named Colette Carr one of my "Ones to Watch in 2011" and I still stand by that statement.  I'm loving her today more than ever.

Ones to Watch in 2011: Colette Carr

BUZZ can be annoying. Too much BUZZ generally means that a label is overcompensating for a lack of talent. No BUZZ typically means that the artist doesn't have a good A&R. Yes, BUZZ is certainly something that can go either way for an artist, but in rare instances, an artist lives up to all of the BUZZ. Case in point 20 year old - Interscope/Cherrytree Records recording artist Colette Carr. I think it's safe to say that BUZZ, backed by AMPLE TALENT is going to carry her far.

This morning Carr unveiled her hot new single, the Frankmusik-produced "(We Do It) Primo" and the interweb has yet to stop...BUZZING about it, and for good reason. It's AMAZING! Have a listen for yourself below.

There are several reasons to love this song.  Firstly, the song is produced by the MAGICAL Vincent Frank (AKA Frankmusik). Secondly, the song features an ample sample of one of my favorite songs of the past 10 years, Keane's 2004 hit single "Somewhere Only We Know." While the song doesn't feature Carr singing - DAMN the girl does her thing. What is her thing?  Speak-singing...spittin' rhymes and she does it well. While some might say that Ke$ha has cornered the market on this genre of music, I respectfully disagree.  Isn't there room for both?  Going a little bit deeper, if you break it down musically, they really aren't that similar. Ke$ha's sound is more straight up POP, while Colette Carr blends pop, hip-hop and electro into her sound, in turn creating quite the enjoyable audible experience.

Carr, who only recently delved into music, found her true calling at a Game concert at UCLA. According to Carr in an interview with MTV last year, "I started by breaking into a UCLA concert with my sister and jumping onstage. It was a Game concert, and the Game was late." The show's MC asked if anyone in the audience knew how to freestyle and Colette popped right on stage and BAM. New passion. What a spontaneous way to start a music career. While I can see haters coming after about success coming so easily, but A.) who says it was easy for her? and B.) if you got it, flaunt it! Colette Carr's got IT and then some.{SOURCE}

While this may be the first a lot of you are hearing of Carr, "(We Do It) Primo" isn't actually her first single.  Back in 2009 Carr released "Back It Up," which became an online hit with over 465K views on MTV Music and a spot in the mtvU top 10 videos, followed by a second single called "Bitch Like Me," released in 2010.  Initially signing with Nick Cannon to his labvel N'Credible Records, Carr eventually made her way over to Interscope/Cherrytree where she worked with Cannon and producer Richie Mac to produce her first mixtape, Sex Sells Stay Tooned.  Now we're in 2011 and Colette Carr is ready to burst into the mainstream, working with Frankmusik, Cherry Cherry Boom Boom, Space Cowboy and Pharrell Williams on her debut album, Skitszo, due out later this year.  "(We Do It) Primo" is due out on May 10th so for now, I'll be listening to SoundCloud on repeat.
