Canadian Singer/Songwriter Esthero Signs with Universal Music Canada; First Single Due June 5th

Esthero

It brings me great pleasure to announce that Canadian singer/songwriter Esthero is BACK with a new single, album AND record label.  Esthero's SNAPPY new single, entitled "Never Gonna Let You Go," was serviced to radio on May 31st and will be available to download on June 5th, along with "remixes for you to dance yer butt off to," according to the talented singer/songwriter via her Facebook page.  SCORE! I'm still jamming along to Esthero's "Fastlane" and "O.G. Bitch," so the prospect of some new bangin' mixes has me all hot and bothered!

Hot Video Alert: Rye Rye - Boom Boom

Rye Rye Boom Boom

I am LOVING Rye Rye right about now. She's a little spitfire isn't she?  21 year old Rye Rye first caught my attention with her single, "Never Will Be Mine", featuring Swedish electropop Goddess Robyn.  "Never Will Be Mine," released nearly a year ago, served as Rye Rye's second official single from her forthcoming album, Go! Pop! Bang!, which is due out May 15th via controversial artist M.I.A.'s own Interscope Records imprint, N.E.E.T.  Rye Rye's latest offering is a feisty little ditty called "Boom Boom," which heavily samples the Vengaboys' 1998 international hit "Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom" in the chorus.  Clever Rye Rye. Very clever.

Natalia Kills Not Quite Done with America: Embarks on Fall Tour with The Sounds

Natalia Kills is set to return to North America to continue promoting her debut album, Perfectionist this Fall with two sets of dates. Kicking things off October 30th in Boston, the U.S. leg of Kills' tour sees her joining forces with Swedish indie rock band The Sounds. The 9 city tour concludes on November 11th, before Kills moves up and over the border into Canada where she will embark on a 10 city tour starting November 13th in Quebec City as part of the Cherrytree Pop Alternative Tour. The Canadian leg of the tour sees Kills joining Cherrytree Records labelmates LMFAO, Far East Movement, Frankmusik, Kay, Rye Rye and Collette Carr. Sounds like a party!

Since releasing her album in the States this past August Kills released will.i.am collaboration, "Free," did guest vocals (and appeared in the video) for LMFAO's dark and dancetastic "Champagne Showers" not to mention turning out a lovely feature on Far East Movement's "2 Is Better" and Frankmusik's "Do It In The AM." As if that wasn't enough to keep her busy, Natalia Kills also features on "1974" by The Krux, taken from their debut album Eraser. Busy busy busy! You have to hand it to Kills...she's really going all out on the promotion of her debut album. I wish all artists (and labels) had such a strong work ethic!

Natalia Kills - Free (Dr Rosen Rosen Remix) by CherrytreeRecords

Here in the States, Perfectionist peaked at #1 on the Billboard Heakseekers Albums chart, #6 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart, and #134 on the Billboard 200. Over Europe the album fared a little bit better, peaking at #129 in the UK, #35 and #50 on the Austrian and German charts (respectively). In Canada the album also did significantly better than it did in the States, peaking at #36.

The fact that the album charted at all here in America is a miracle, and while I was hoping for better, something is better than nothing. To date, Kills has yet to have a single on the Billboard Hot 100, although "Mirrors" did peak at #3 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart. Check out an alternate version of Natalia Kills' "Free" video below and catch her on tour this fall (dates below). Hot Video Alert: Robyn - Call Your Girlfriend

This video is likely old news to most of you but it's new to me, as I'm still catching up on emails from early late May/Early June!  "Call Your Girlfriend" is the latest single released from Robyn's BRILLIANT Body Talk album, released in November of 2010. Written by Robyn, alongside Klas Åhlund and Alexander Kronlund, the single was released in April. Produced by Åhlund and Billboard, "Call Your Girlfriend" is electropop at it's finest, and a very clear standout in her live set. Peaking at #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart, the single is complemented by a stunning video, featuring the pint-size Swedish popstar doing her trademark spastic dance moves, flitting about a big, empty warehouse-looking space. Directed by Max Vitali, the video appears to have been shot all in one take which makes it even more amazing. Robyn's energetic movements, combined with her emotional delivery really work wonders. It's another amazing electropop ballad, courtesy of Robyn.

After you've watched the video about a bajillion times, make sure you go and show your support by downloading the "Call Your Girlfriend" remix EP, available on iTunes HERE. The EP features fabulous dance mixes from Feed Me, Kaskade and Sultan & Ned. While you're at it, why not download Body Talk, also on iTunes HERE.  Oh, and just for kicks...check out Robyn featured on the new song by American rapper Rye Rye, "Never Will Be Mine," featuring a generous sampling of Robyn's fabulous single "Be Mine!"  Download "Never Will Be Mine" on iTunes HERE.
