Drake Drops New Posthumous Aaliyah Single, "Enough Said"; Talk of New Posthumous Album Intensifies

Aaliyah

Earlier this afternoon, the blogosphere was a flutter over the release of new music featuring the soulful sounds of the late, great Aaliyah, who passed away nearly eleven years ago in a plane crash.  Posthumous releases are usually released for one of two reasons; blatant greed on the part of a money hungry record label, or as a means to honor and pay homage to a truly talented artist.  In the case of rapper/singer/songwriter Drake's new song, "Enough Said," I am choosing to believe it's the latter.

Canadian Singer/Songwriter Esthero Signs with Universal Music Canada; First Single Due June 5th

Esthero

It brings me great pleasure to announce that Canadian singer/songwriter Esthero is BACK with a new single, album AND record label.  Esthero's SNAPPY new single, entitled "Never Gonna Let You Go," was serviced to radio on May 31st and will be available to download on June 5th, along with "remixes for you to dance yer butt off to," according to the talented singer/songwriter via her Facebook page.  SCORE! I'm still jamming along to Esthero's "Fastlane" and "O.G. Bitch," so the prospect of some new bangin' mixes has me all hot and bothered!

Electro-Gothic-Warrior Karin Park Unveils New 'Restless' Remixes; Single and Album Out May 28th

Karin Park Restless

Last month I was so impressed with the Björk-like sounds of Swedish singer/songwriter Karin Park, that I touted her as a 'One to Watch' this year.  Now as the impending release of her new single, "Restless" draws nearer, I'm still feeling as confident as ever with my decision.  Set for release on May 28th (iTunes UK) through State Of The Eye Recordings, "Resltess" is the first single taken from her upcoming debut album, Highwire Poetry, due the very same day.

Hot Video Alert: Demi Lovato - Give Your Heart a Break

Demi Lovato Give Your Heart a Break

Here is the video for Demi Lovato's newest single, "Give Your Heart a Break," taken from her third studio album Unbroken. Maybe my age is to blame for this one, but I keep getting Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez confused.  Am I crazy?  There are so many similarities between the two girls, how can you not get them confused?  Let's see; they are both signed to Hollywood Records; they are both 19 years old; they both starred in Disney Channel series (Selena - Wizards of Waverly Place; Demi - Sonny with a Chance). Are they not the same person?  I'm still a bit confused.

Hot Video Alert: Michelle Branch & Timbaland - Getaway

Thanks to The Prophet for the heads up on this one. We'd heard previously that Michelle Branch and Timbaland were hitting the studio together for some sort of collab but were left wondering...WTF?  Well, finally the end result is here and I have to admit that I'm pleasantly surprised.  While I love Branch's more pop driven sounds on singles like "Breathe" I was worried about a more urban collaboration - just not sure if Branch's vocals are a good fit with that sort of sound.

Well...Timbaland went ahead and proved me wrong!  The mid tempo "Getaway" blends country, R&B and pop together into a rather slick production.  You gotta hand it to Timbaland...everything (and everyone) he touches turns into musical magic.  "Getaway" is to be used in a promotional campaign for the new MINI car called the Countryman.  I guess the fact that she's keeping busy with random side projects like this suggests that the release of her own album is a ways away. Oh well. This should tide me over just fine.
